When Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that he would change his company’s name to Meta Platforms or Meta, the metaverse saw its most significant shift since science fiction author Neal Stephenson created the word in his 1992 novel “Snow Crash.”
Yet many more tech visionaries have views on how the metaverse, which will combine virtual reality and other technologies into a single system, should look like. New social media environments with greater personal data have been a concern for many people.
